During the 2021 Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention attendees were given the opportunity to donate to Farm Rescue, an organization that helps farms in crisis. Because of the generous support of the registrants, and NCIS member companies, $14,000 was raised for this important charity.
Farm Rescue’s mission is to help family farms and ranches bridge crises, so they have an opportunity to continue viable operations. One of the biggest financial drains on a family is an unexpected medical injury or illness and, of course, a natural disaster. It is even more pronounced on a farm where a family’s livelihood depends on the ability to plant, harvest or provide for their livestock.
Farm Rescue gives families a chance to continue farming by providing the necessary equipment and manpower (free of charge) to plant, hay or harvest their crop. Livestock feeding assistance is also available.
Since their inception in 2006, Farm Rescue has aided more than 700 struggling farm and ranch families in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. All operations are funded by donations from businesses, organizations and individuals that support America’s tradition of independent family farms and strong rural economies. No funds are distributed directly to farms or ranches as all donations are used to pay for the many expenses associated with planting, haying, harvesting and livestock feeding.
