National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) is back with another episode of Keep America Growing, the monthly podcast that takes listeners inside the world of crop insurance.

This month, NCIS President Tom Zacharias sits down with veteran crop insurance agent Jason Williamson from Ohio to discuss one of the most critical deadlines in agriculture – the crop insurance sales closing date. For many farmers growing spring-seeded crops like corn, soybeans, and cotton, the deadline for purchasing risk management protection for this year’s crop falls on March 17.

That means things have been extremely busy for Williamson and other agents.

“During this time, farmers across the country sit down with their crop insurance agents to design a coverage plan specifically developed for their individual operations,” Zacharias explained.

In the episode, Williamson dives into what his life is like during “March Madness,” the conversations he’s having with farmers, how crop insurance policies are tailored to individual operations, and the incredible growth of the industry – now covering 544 million acres.

Williamson also shares his perspective on guiding farmers through tough times and offers advice for those looking to enter the industry.
