Updated CropInsurance101.org Offers New Resources, State Fact Sheets

NCIS recently refreshed and expanded CropInsurance101.org, making it easier than ever for policymakers, reporters, and agricultural stakeholders to access information about how America’s crop insurance system operates.

Among the updates are newly refreshed state fact sheets in the website’s “In My State” section, offering state-by-state snapshots of crop insurance participation, acres protected, commodities covered, and the value of protection provided to farmers. The updated site also features expanded educational resources explaining how the public-private partnership helps farmers manage weather and market risks while supporting rural communities nationwide.

The updates come as crop insurance reached record participation levels in 2025. Farmers purchased a record 2.54 million crop insurance policies protecting 561 million acres nationwide and more than $159 billion in liability protection. Farmers also invested more than $6.25 billion of their own money to purchase coverage — underscoring the importance of crop insurance as agriculture’s primary risk management tool.

Policies were sold in every state in America in 2025, protecting everything from specialty crops in the West to wheat across the Plains and row crops throughout the Midwest and South. The updated state fact sheets help tell that story at the local level while providing easy-to-share information for farmers and agricultural stakeholders alike.

In addition to the state resources, visitors can explore a variety of educational materials and background information on the site, including:
